NAMING YOUR CHILD
It is said, names decide the quality of a person. The name also decide the future of that person. Therefore, among the 16 rites just after the birth, the naming ceremony or Namakaran is an important Samskara (rite) in the life of a Hindu baby. The name of a person is an important determinant in deciding the value of an object or a person.
Astrology is based on the system of star and planetary constellation. In deciding the name of a person there should be an importance of the time of birth and nakshatra. Among 27 nakshatra’s 108 parts, there are 108 alphabets and most of the names are based on horoscope. For instance, if someone is born on the first part of Ashwini nakshatra, then his first name should begin with “chu’ only. This is true that in the vedic astrology there is a high importance of moon signs and in results also Chandra lagna (Ascendant) is important.
In the old times, it was possible to tell the time of birth and nakshatra of a person on the basis of his name. The place of the moon was one of the determinants of the fate of the person, according to old shastra.
Horoscope tells us about the position of moon during the time of his birth. Therefore, names of the child were always determined on the basis of his birth. But is it enough to decide the name just on the basis of horoscope. In fact, this is not enough. This should have a clear explanation of the position of rashi (sun sign) and moon. If moon has unholy influence of Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu and is placed in the eighth house, then the name should never be based on rashi or nakshatra. If the moon along with sun is also located in 6th, 8th or 12th place, then also names should not be based on rashi. Weak moon is considered sinful planet. If the weak moon is located in the eighth place, then name should not be decided on the basis of rashi.
If the moon of rashi is under unholy influence, then deciding names on the basis of moon signs may create obstacles in life. If you want to save yourself from trouble, bad health and pain, then you should ensure that the moon is located in the holy places and is not influenced by negative planets. Only in such cases you should pick up names based on moon sign otherwise if the main planets (graham) of lagna or pancham rashi are holy then names should be based on them.
