THE SUN AND ITS EFFECTS ON TRANSIT
The Sun is the only planet which is self luminous. He has many names like Savitha, Mithra, Ravi and Jyothisham Pathi. By the recitation of Gayathri regularly, many types of illnesses can be cured. By the performance of Surya Namaskar,’ Samba, son of Lord Krishna, got cured of his consumption. Lord Rama recited Aditya Hridaya on the advice of Saint Agasthya, in order to defeat Ravana easily. Pandavas got Akshaya Patra from the Sun.
In a horoscope, Sun is the Atma Karaka. Just as Sunday is the first day of the week, the Sun is the main planet affecting our lives. In a horoscope, he has digbda in the south or tenth bhava.
Saturn, who is his son, is his bitter enemy. The enemity between father and son was not uncommon even in the ancient days. Leo is his own sign, Aries is his exaltation and Libra is his debilitation. He aspects the 7th house. He represents the right eye. Wheat is his grain. He governs the stars Krithika, Uttara-Phalguni and Uthrashada. Numbers 1 and 4 are ruled by him.
Except Mercury, all the planets become combust while coming near him. The Sun stays in a house for one month.
Let us consider the transit effect of the Sun in a horoscope. (The houses are counted from the house in which the Moon is placed in a horoscope).
Sun Transiting in the First House
Loss of prestige, many obtacles, aimless travels, misunderstanding with friends, chest and stomach pain, sorrow, laziness, delay, fatique, getting angry, change of place, inability to keep up with the words.
Sun Transiting in the Second House
Obstacles, lot of worries, illness due to heat, association with unscrupulous friends, lack of mental peace, eye trouble, misunderstanding with spouse, liability of deceit, decline of income.
Sun Transiting in the Third House
Recognition, acquisition of new position, change of place, good health, conjugal felicity, peace of mind, mental courage, success in the efforts, auspicious function at home, unexpected income, promotion.
Sun Transiting in the Fourth House
Anxiety about children, untimely meals, delay, foreign travel, pressure from creditors, problems from the opposite sex, indisposition.
Sun Transiting in the Fifth House
Problems from Government, trouble from enemies, ill health, worry due to family affairs, wandering, lot of expenses.
Sun Transiting in the Sixth House
Gain of property, travel, success over enemies, change of place, peace of mind, improvement in livelihood, entertaining the guests.
Sun Transiting in the Seventh House
Expenses due to spouse, mother and coborns; lethargy, stomach trouble, travel, decrease in income, chest pain, consumption, injuries, problems from opposite sex.
Sun Transiting in the Eighth House
Obstacles, accident, illness to spouse, theft, high blood pressure, digestive disorder, mental tension, misunderstandings.
Sun Transiting in the Ninth House
Separation from spouse, help from friends, skin trouble, expenses, indisposition to mother, loss of paternal property, frustration, mental depression.
Sun Transiting in the Tenth House
General success, new position, good health, increase in wealth, domestic happiness, concentration in business, help from friends, receipt of awards.
Sun Transiting in the Eleventh House
Gain in speculation, success in litigation:” control of expenditure, completion of pending work, mental happiness, sound health, good news from offspring.
Sun Transiting in the Twelfth House
Economic crisis, mental agony, illness of a family member, happiness through correspondence, lethargy, fruitless journey, misunderstanding with friends.
Vedha places of the Sun are 3 and 9, 6 and 12; 10 and 4, 11 and 5. There is no vedha between Sun and Saturn.
EFFECTS OF VEDHA
When a planet is in its Gochara place and if another planet is in the vedha position, the effects will be reversed.
Example: If the Sun in a horoscope is in the third house from the Moon and if in the ninth house, there is a planet other than Saturn; the native will not experience the good effects due to transit of the Sun.
If Sun is in the fourth house from the Moon and if there is a planet other than Saturn in the tenth house, the native will not experience the bad effects due to the transit of Sun in that place. On the contrary, his children will be prosperous and he will enjoy good health, etc.
